The first metal buildings were cast for housing livestock and agricultural equipment. The first prefabricated Metal Buildings were made in factories and transported to farms in the early twentieth century. Metal Quonset and Nissin huts used during the war are still used as living quarters in many places. Buildings fabricated from metal were used as warehouses and public meeting houses after the war. The computer helped architects and designers make modern designs for buildings made of metal for community halls residences and business offices.The importance given to green architecture has brought a new interest in metal buildings as being the most sustainable forms of architecture avilalble.
